The Errors in Judgment…WOW!

Suggested by a very special person, I read (or listened to) the book/program The Art of Exceptional Living by Jim Rohn this week. There are a lot of nuggets in his work, but the one that really hit me hard was his definition of failure as errors in judgment made on a daily basis. UFFFFF!!!!

I do not consider myself a person who has failed at all. I don’t even think I’ve ever used the word “failure” in my vocabulary, even though I recognize that in order to succeed, you have to fail. I guess I simply see negative experiences as lessons to be learned, and I don’t add the dramatics of “failure.” If that’s the case—hell yeah—I’ve failed, and big time!

Despite that, I do find myself in a position, in business, where I keep making the same error day after day. Here’s what Rohn made so clear for me: making small errors in judgment every day for years accumulates into a big disaster. The trick is, because they’re usually small and don’t have any immediate impact, we see them as harmless—so we keep doing them.

Secret for success: A few…simple…disciplines…practices…every…day

JIM ROHN

My error in judgment is avoiding the work that I should be doing, period—under excuses like: “I’m too good for it,” “It’s not the best use of my time,” “I have staff who should be doing that,” “I don’t like doing it,” “We’re fine like this,” etc., etc., etc.

So my nemesis is me—the reflection I see in the mirror every day. It’s not politics, it’s not the world situation, it’s not the market, it’s not the competition, it’s not my family, or my people. It’s not!!! It’s just me.

The good news is, when you realize that it’s YOU, and only YOU making the mistake, you can correct the error immediately. You have full power and full control.

So here we go—starting this February with a few… simple… disciplined… practices… every… day.
